Clash Of The Filmgoers

March 31, 2010

As someone who writes the occasional movie review, I figure I owe it to myself to take advantage of as many advance movie screenings as I can. And usually, I have a pretty decent experience. Most free screenings, at least here in DC, start around 7:30. Depending on what theater any given screening is at in relation to where I work, I can get to most theaters by six o’clock. But by then, the line to get in the screening may already be a bit long. So it helps having friends who always get there before me, that I can meet up with. Unfortunately, we weren’t so luck when we went to see Clash of the Titans last night. A lot of this is due to some of the worst planning we had ever seen for a movie screening. The Clock Is Running Out For 24

March 29, 2010

“Don’t make me shoot you! (like I need that much of a reason.)”

It had to happen sooner or later, I guess. After a lot of speculation, word finally came down that the current season of 24 would be its last. Ratings had been on the decline for some time, and given the show’s ginormous price tag, it’s just not worth much to Fox to keep it on any longer. Would I have wanted another season of 24? Sure. The show’s run has been career-defining for Kieffer Sutherland, who was always in danger for being remembered solely for his roles as degenerate psychopaths in films like Stand By Me and The Last Boys. Currently Listening To . . . Sneaker Pimps: Bloodsport

March 26, 2010

I completely forgot about all the trip-hop my cousin burned for me while I was in London last year. I never wanted to pay the import price for the latter Sneaker Pimps albums, and furthermore, I was quite partial to Becoming X, when Kelli Ali was in the group.

March 24, 2010

Feeding my weaknesses for airy alternative electro-pop AND Hall & Oates?! That’s it! Don’t nobody bother me the rest of the day!

Five Things I’m Looking Forward To On Justified

March 12, 2010

Outside of their profoundly annoying commercials declaring that they’ve “got the movies” (yeah, ’cause I REALLY wanna watch The Departed on FX! For the love of puppies. . .), FX has to be one of my favorite networks. This is what FOX used to be in their hey day, diving headlong into the deep end, not giving a rodent’s posterior about how others saw them. With shows like The Shield, Sons of Anarchy, Damages, Nip/Tuck, and It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia, FX has long since established itself as the network for morally reprehensible sociopaths we all wish we could be, if only we had the minerals! So naturally, I’m very much looking forward to their new series, Justified. Read the rest of this entry ?

Academy Award Winning Movie Trailer

March 12, 2010

To be fair, poking fun at films that some would consider “Oscar Bait” is nothing new, but dammit if the guys from BriTANick don’t do a damn good job of it with this mock trailer.
